Didcot in South Oxfordshire has been an area of growth since 1979 and, including the next phase of growth, will see its population increase from 15,000 in 1981 to over 35,000 residents by 2016. This growth is resulting in some exciting developments; including a new arts centre, shopping centre, cinema, green spaces and improvements to the train station.
Didcot is well placed for sustainable growth. It is located close to the M4 motorway and has a frequent and fast (45 minute) direct train service to the centre of London. A shuttle bus service connects the train station with nearby Milton Park. There is also a regular bus service to the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus which is seven miles away.
The Railway Centre in Didcot is home to the Great Western Society and its unique collection of former Great Western Railway steam engines, coaches and buildings.
